Why I Started The Fiduciary Institute
I came to professional fiduciary work the way many of us do: through responsibility that was real, personal, and deeply human. I didn’t begin my career thinking I would one day help people navigate incapacity, loss, and complex life transitions. My background was in organizational development and financial services — building systems, managing operations, helping people make decisions with clarity.
But over time, I found myself drawn to the moments where people needed someone steady. Someone who could make decisions thoughtfully when things were emotional, complicated, or unclear. Someone who could be trusted when families weren’t aligned, or when a person could no longer advocate for themselves.
That is what led me into professional fiduciary work.
And once I entered the field, I realized two things at the same time:
1. This work is vital.
It protects dignity, stability, and the ability to live according to one’s wishes.
2. But most fiduciaries are doing this work without the structure, training, or professional support that other fields take for granted.

People enter this profession with heart, skill, and integrity — but they’re often left to build their practices by piecing together information, reinventing systems, or learning through trial and error.
The work deserves better.
So do the people doing it.
And so do the individuals and families placing their trust in us.
So I created The Fiduciary Institute to change that.
